DETROIT – Police said a man who was holding two children hostage inside a home on Detroit’s west side surrendered Sunday. Authorities blocked off the surrounding area while hostage negotiation and special response teams tried talking the man out of the home. Police said a handgun was recovered and the man was taken into custody. Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilegi said the children didn’t know the extent of the danger they were in. DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating a shooting Monday evening in the 18000 block of Greenfield Road that resulted in two women, ages 24 and 30, being injured. Police said as the driver pulled into a driveway of an unknown residence, multiple shots were fired from the Equinox toward the Fusion, striking the 24-year-old woman. A 30-year-old woman, who was driving south on Greenfield, was also struck. Police said the 24-year-old woman was listed in serious condition, and the 30-year-old woman was listed in temporary serious condition. The 24-year-old suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds with a short afro and dark-colored eyes.

DETROIT – A barricaded gunman situation ended in northwest Detroit Thursday after the suspect surrendered. Detroit police surrounded a home on Coyle Street near West Chicago and Greenfield Road. Police said a 24-year-old man allegedly fired a shot at a 19-year-old woman and her sister after an argument over childcare money. Police said the suspect then barricaded himself. The man eventually surrendered after police played a recording of his mother pleading for him to come out.

DETROIT – Traffic on Interstate 96 was shut down for hours Tuesday afternoon as Michigan State Police tried to piece together a shooting on the freeway near Greenfield Road. A jeep that was struck in the shooting received damage to its back window, driver’s side window and door and one of the tires. Sources said the man driving the jeep told police he was shot at while driving on the Southfield Freeway north of Joy Road, which lead police to shut down the lanes Tuesday night and start walking the freeway looking for shell casings. Police sources said after the man was shot at, he pulled over near I-96 and Greenfield and called a family member to come and get him. It is unknown what led to the shooting.

BERKLEY, Mich. A stalking suspect was killed Monday when he crashed into another vehicle and a pole while trying to escape Berkley police officers, according to authorities. Officers said they were called around 10 p.m. Monday to a home on Ellwood Avenue north of Catalpa Drive for a stalking incident. The impact caused the Cruze to crash into a light pole, according to authorities. Since the crash happened in Southfield, officers from that department are investigating the fatal crash. Police said that the suspect blew through a red light at 11 Mile and Greenfield roads. DETROIT – A 16-year-old boy was shot Wednesday morning at a White Castle restaurant in the 8800 block of Greenfield Road. The restaurant is at the northwest corner of Greenfield and Joy roads. The boy is expected to survive gunshot wounds. His exact condition is not known at this time. Detroit police are working to find out what led to this shooting and who is responsible.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 2-year-old child has died after falling from a 9th floor apartment Thursday in Southfield. The child was rushed into surgery after the fall from a window at The Reserve of Southfield on 9 Mile Road, between Greenfield Road and the Lodge Freeway.

DETROIT – A driver who ran a stop sign sent another vehicle slamming into a house on Detroit’s west side Monday night. A Range Rover traveling north on Whitcomb ran the stop sign at Puritan Avenue and hit a Hyundai. The house’s gas meter was hit in the crash, but the residents of the home were not injured. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Ranger Rover got out of their vehicle, got into another car and fled the scene.

The shooting happened around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 16600 block of Greenfield Road, according to authorities. The 30-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound, officials said. He is listed in critical condition. Police don’t have a suspect description at this time.

DETROIT – A gunman killed a random person Monday at a Detroit gas station before turning the gun on himself, police said. The incident happened late Monday morning at the Mobil gas station at the corner of Fenkell Avenue and Greenfield Road on Detroit’s west side. “It doesn’t seem like these two people knew each other,” a Detroit police spokesperson said. “The person that was walking up was shot several times, and then the perpetrator turned the gun on himself,” the spokesperson said. That man is believed to be DeMarco Early, whose family says he was a nice person and didn’t deserve this fate.

DETROIT – A gunman murdered a random person inside a Detroit gas station before killing himself, according to authorities. Police began investigating after two bodies were found at the Mobil gas station. Officials said a man at the gas station shot another person at random and then turned the gun on himself. His family members said he deserved better. The gas station is a Project Green Light location, so there are cameras all around.

DETROIT – Police cars and crime scene tape blocked the intersection of Joy and Greenfield roads for hours Tuesday morning. Lori Fields was on her way to the bus stop when the heavy police presence caught her attention. “I saw the police up here and I was like, ‘What happened?’ because obviously they have the whole street blocked off,” she said. Detroit police said a 66-year-old man was stabbed in his head and his butt at the intersection early Tuesday morning. They’re not certain what caused this stabbing, but this crime scene has Fields asking a lot of questions.

A mans body was found in the trunk of a snow-covered car on Detroits west side, police said. Officials received a call about the body around 10:30 a.m. Friday from the 20000 block of Murray Hill Street near Greenfield Road and Pembroke Avenue. The body was pulled from the trunk just after 2:10 p.m. Friday. Police said the man is in his 60s. The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, officials said.
