The company said the hack was discovered in January but customers said they were recently notified. Local 4 learned that the thieves got social security numbers as well home addresses not only of customers but also possibly employees. Flagstar has reached out to customers impacted and offering a credit monitoring service. The one-click Microsoft tool was created to protect against cyberattacks and to scan systems for compromises and fix them.

This targeted computer hack of Walled Lake Schools was impossible to anticipate and the timing could not have been worse.

Walled Lake school officials said there is a possibility credentials and other information was taken. As communicated earlier today, Our Path and My Path virtual learning will continue, uninterrupted, for all students in WLCSD tomorrow.

The ruse included bogus tweets from Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Mike Bloomberg and a number of tech billionaires including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The fake tweets offered to send $2,000 for every $1,000 sent to a bitcoin address. Twitter didnt immediately respond to requests for commentBezos, Gates and Musk are among the 10 richest people in the world, with tens of millions of followers on Twitter. The apparently fake tweets were all quickly deleted, although The Associated Press was able to capture screenshots of several before they disappeared.
