LIVONIA, Mich. – Canton city officials announced they have a limited number of vaccination appointments available March 10-12. CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police said a truck crash in Canton Township Friday has caused a power outage along Haggerty Road between Palmer Road and Michigan Avenue. According to the Canton Public Safety, the fire department and DTE are on the scene. Traffic lights in the area may be impacted and drivers are advised to treat the intersections as a four-way stop. “Use caution in the area and remain at least 20 feet from any downed wires. According to the DTE outage map, more than 500 customers in the area are without power as of 10 p.m. Friday.

NOVI, Mich. A barricaded gunman situation has come to a peaceful resolution on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. Officials say beginning at about 5 a.m. a 44-year-old man barricaded himself inside a Country Cousin mobile home after his mother called police saying she wanted to get him into rehab. Police knocked on the door of the home off Haggerty Road near Twelve Mile Road when they heard a shot fired inside. By about 1:40 p.m. Novi police were able to talk the man into exiting the home. Police say no one was injured during the incident.

Michigan State Police said the vehicle was pulling a boat trailer on I-94 when the trailer separated from the vehicle, causing a fire. The vehicle and trailer both burned on the side of the interstate, forcing state police to shut down the eastbound side of I-94. Michigan State Police said the vehicle was pulling a boat trailer on I-94 when the trailer separated from the vehicle, causing a fire. Dashcam video from a Michigan State Police troopers vehicle show the trooper rushing to save an unconscious driver from a burning pickup truck Tuesday morning along eastbound I-94 near Haggerty Road. State police said troopers were called about 6:15 a.m. about a car and boat fire on the interstate. The trooper used his baton to break out the passenger side window and pull the driver out of the pickup truck. The trooper was then able to pull the driver from the truck, reads a statement from state police. The pickup truck was pulling a boat trailer.

NOVI, Mich. One person was arrested and another injured in a Novi drunken driving crash Saturday. On Saturday at around 1:20 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle crash on westbound I-696 underneath the Haggerty Road overpass. When police arrived they located one car crashed into the median and a second car pushed into the right side guardrail. The second vehicle was abandoned and unoccupied. Police say the driver who crashed into the median was driving while drunk.

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A 10-year-old Canton Township boy is facing an aggravated assault charge after he threw a ball at a classmate. Officials said the boy was playing a game called tips April 29 at a school in the 1270 block of Haggerty Road. When playing tips, players throw a rubber ball in the air and jump to catch it. After the game was over, the boy allegedly forcefully threw the ball directly at a 9-year-old boy, causing the child to suffer a concussion and abrasions on his face. The boy is charged as a minor.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The closed bridge along Hines Drive located west of Haggerty Road and East of Riverside Drive opened Friday. The bridges along Hines Drive have been closed for almost a year after routine inspection. Barricades will stay on to keep the last closed Hines Drive Bridge (between Northville Road and N. Mill Street) closed to traffic. Officers were dispatched at 3:48 a.m. Friday to the area of Pine Cone Drive and Mystic Forest Drive near 14 Mile and Haggerty Road after a resident reported a car alarm was going off. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Farmington Hills police arrested two men Friday on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and larceny from auto. When officers arrived in the area, they located an occupied vehicle that had been reported stolen June 17 in Madison Heights. The two occupants of the stolen vehicle, an 18-year-old Detroit resident and a 19-year-old Detroit resident, were taken into custody. Evidence recovered from the stolen vehicle was linked to a larceny from a vehicle near where the Detroit residents were found in addition to recent thefts from vehicles in Wixom and Livonia.
