The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued a clarification about face masks being required at cosmetology and barbering facilities. MDHHS is stressing that such personal care facilities -- hair salons, barbers, spas, facial boutiques, etc. -- must require clients to wear a face mask at all times. If a face mask cannot be worn, the service cannot be provided at this time. Although known as a childrens hair salon, zoey + joey stylists also worked with teens and adults. During the Stay-at-Home orders, residents werent able to get a hair cut, get their nails done or get a massage. Just getting back to work and seeing all the clients is just wonderful, said massage therapist Cindy Burger. After three months, BABS Salon & Wellness Spa in Birmingham is reopening. I cant wait to see all the faces. Now they can only accommodate about half of that and customers you wont be able to wait in the lobby anymore.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. In 2012, Ilze Meija-Ham opened zoey + joey when she couldnt find a salon for her children, now shes trying to anticipate how and when she will be able to reopen. Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Meija-Ham said zoey + joey clients were willing to drive from up to an hour away to have their children work with her stylists. Owner Ilze Meija-Ham said that clients drive from up an hour away in order to visit the Ann Arbor salon. Nevertheless, she is trying to plan for the changes that will have to be made to zoey + joey.
