Lasorda had a record of 1,599-1,439 while managing the Dodgers from 1976-96, guiding them to World Series championships in 1981 and '88. In 2012, Lasorda was hospitalized in New York after having a heart attack.

In 1977 โ Vitale's last year coaching at the school โ the Titans won an NCAA Tournament game for the first time. He played two more at Detroit after that, averaging 23.3 points a game as a senior and helping the team to another NCAA Tournament appearance.

Williams also managed for five other teams, leading his squads to three American League pennants and one National League pennant. He is one of seven managers to win pennants in both major leagues and only the second manager to lead three franchises to the World Series. He and Lou Piniella are the only managers in history to lead four teams to seasons of 90 or more wins. He also played for seven different teams between 1951 and 1964.
