Read full article: Passenger jet swerves to avoid drone near Gatwick Airport(CNN) - A passenger jet approaching London's Gatwick Airport was forced to take evasive action after the pilot noticed a drone ahead, a near-miss report revealed. The incident occurred in April and involved an Airbus A320, which can carry up to 186 passengers. It came months after reported drone sightings at Gatwick grounded flights over the Christmas period and disrupted the travel plans of hundreds of thousands of people. It is illegal to fly a drone above 400 feet or within one kilometer (0.6 miles) of an airport boundary, and UKAB reported that the drone was breaching those regulations. The incident was one of 10 reported drone sightings collated in UKAB's most recent monthly summary, five of which occurred near Heathrow, the UK's main airport.

The latest snafu comes just one day after a British Airways flight from London to Spain was evacuated after smoke filled the cabin moments before the flight was due to land.
Radar issue disrupts flights at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports
Read full article: Radar issue disrupts flights at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports(CNN) - A radar issue is causing disruptions to flights in the UK, limiting operations at two of Britain's busiest airports amid a record-breaking heat wave. The UK's main air navigation service said it was dealing with a technical problem with a system at an air traffic control center in Swanwick, southern England, which was causing the flight restrictions. "We are doing all we can to fix it as soon as possible," National Air Traffic Services (NATS) said in a statement Friday. Heathrow and Gatwick, the UK's first and second busiest airports, respectively, both confirmed to CNN they had been experiencing limitations to their operations due to the air traffic control problem. "Flights continue to arrive and depart from Gatwick however NATS -- which controls UK airspace -- currently has an issue with one of its radars and has put limits on the number of flights that can use Gatwick and other London airports," Gatwick Airport said in a statement.
