SALEM TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public to check credentials of contractors who arrive on their property without being requested after homeowners in Salem Township were duped by men claiming to work for a tree removal company. Around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from homeowners on the 5800 block of Gotfredson Road after they realized they had been robbed while distracted. The first suspect used the name Ernesto and is described as a small man who spoke with a Spanish accent. WARREN, Mich. – A police chase ended in Warren after a man crashed a vehicle, that was reported stolen, into a utility pole. Police said the man broke into a woman’s home in Detroit, demanding her guns and car keys, and takes off with the car. The vehicle had OnStar, which tracked the vehicle in Warren. The man took off in high speed after Michigan State Police attempted to perform a traffic stop. According to MSP, the man was treated for minor injuries and taken into custody by Detroit police.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. – The Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department is investigating a home invasion that happened in the 400 block of Barclay Road at around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Police say residents of the home were sleeping when the burglar broke in and took items. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone in the area who might have witnessed a strange vehicle or doorbell camera footage among other suspicious activity to call police at 313-885-2100.

DETROIT – A 22-year-old man was shot and killed during a home invasion in the 17600 block of Fenton in Detroit on Monday evening. According to police, the home invasion suspect was killed around 7 p.m. yesterday by a 36-year-old resident of the home after entering it without permission. Police reported that at some point during the incident the resident, a CPL holder, fired several shots at the suspect and killed him. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Spencer John Payne and Cedrick Michael Sims were arraigned Wednesday in connection to two violent home invasions. According to authorities, the two men are accused of breaking into two houses, tying up and threatening the occupants. Police said it happened between 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. Oct. 8 at two houses, one on Sharon Drive and one on Macomb Street. Police say in the home on Macomb Street, the family -- a single father with three children, ages 5, 13 and 17 -- were tied up with electrical cords and clothing around their hands and feet. Police said they then went back to the first house, apologized, untied the father and told him not to untie the children yet.

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A child was assaulted during a home invasion Thursday in Ypsilanti. It was 3 a.m. when Ann Donnelly’s son woke up to find a man in his bedroom. Donnelly said the man told her son to be quiet and pinned him to the bed. “The intruder was released within two hours to return to his home,” Donnelly said. “I can see it from where I’m standing.”Donnelly describes her neighbor as a white man in his mid 30s.

GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. – A suspect armed with a knife broke into a home in Grosse Pointe Park, police said. Police were called to the 900 block of Bedford Road at 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday on the report of a home invasion. The suspect broke into an attached garage and went into the home, the door had been left unlocked from the garage, police said. The homeowner was on the couch at the time the suspect broke in and the homeowner caught the suspect. When caught by the homeowner, the intruder took off on foot.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to a Rochester Hills home invasion that happened on Saturday evening. Officers responded to the 3200 block of Avalon Road in Rochester Hills at around 7 p.m. yesterday after an active home invasion was reported. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that she and her mother came home and noticed a truck parked in the driveway. The victim didn’t believe it and told the man she knew he had items belonging to her. Afterward the suspect ran to his truck, threw the stolen items in the bed of it and fled the scene.

Local 4 has learned the 34-year-old man, Jerry Miller, known as rapper Mr. Macnificent, was shot in the home invasion on Janet, in the area of Hiller and Greer in the Windrift Pond subdivision. Police are searching for three people that broke in and shot him. According to his record label, Jerry Miller, known as Mr. Macnificent, is from Memphis, Tennessee, but is currently living between Detroit and Atlanta. An Instagram video posted early this morning on his page shows what appears to be the shooting scene, with Miller asking for people in the home to call the police because he had just been shot.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man who threw a brick paver through a window to break into Eminem’s Clinton Township home told the rapper he was at the home to kill him, an officer testified in court. Eminem caught Matthew David Hughes, 27, breaking into his home on Westchester Street after 3 a.m. April 5, according to Clinton Township police. Authorities said it was a brick paver that Hughes threw at the back window of Eminem’s home to get inside. Quinn told Judge Jacob Michael Femminineo Jr. that he was able to identify Hughes as the man in the security footage. He told Hackstock that he woke up to Hughes standing over him, but thought it was his nephew.

WYANDOTTE, Mich. An officer shot a Taser through the window of a stolen dump truck at a Wyandotte junkyard to take down a man accused in a crime spree that included two late-night break-ins and a chase in which he escaped police, according to authorities. On Saturday, the man climbed through the window of a Wyandotte home while the family slept, police said. He was spotted near a scrapyard Wednesday and grabbed a dump truck when police gave chase, according to officials. He jumped into a dump truck and stole the truck, Hamilton said. An officer fired a Taser, and the shot went through the passenger side window and hit the man, taking him down, according to police.

Troy police say that two home invasions and one attempted home invasion occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The first home invasion occurred at about 12:53 p.m. in the 2300 block of Chesapeake Court. The second home invasion occurred at 1:16 p.m. in the 1400 block of Key West Drive. An attempted home invasion occurred at 12:36 p.m. i the 1300 block of Boyd Street.

A man wanted in connection to several Downriver home invasion was taken into police custody. Police said William Black, 47, was on a home invasion rampage through Allen Park, Wyandotte and Trenton. A Trenton woman had her new puppy stolen during a home invasion. Trenton police didnt give up looking for Thor and the puppy was returned to her Wednesday.

DETROIT A homeowner shot a 30-year-old man that was attempting to break into her home early Sunday morning. Police say at around 2:15 a.m. the male suspect attempted to force his way into the womans home in the 9900 block of Ohio Street. The man broke her front living room window and the glass of her front door before the woman shot him. The man was taken to the hospital, listed in stable condition and then arrested by Detroit police, officials said. TRENTON, Mich. A Downriver woman watched as a thief broke into her home, went through her things and stole her puppy. She watched the whole thing happen over her security cameras. The young woman, from Trenton, said everyone in the area should be on high alert. She said she left for work and her Ring camera went off. She said she believes the man was watching her movements and knew when she left for work.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Rapper Eminem caught an intruder who broke into his Clinton Township home in the middle of the night by smashing through a window with a brick paver, police said. Clinton Township police said the break-in happened around 4 a.m. April 5. Matthew David Hughes, 27, threw a brick paver through the back window of Eminem’s home to get inside, officials said. Eminem was home at the time, and security was alerted when Hughes got inside, according to authorities. Clinton Township police were called to the scene after Hughes was detained by security.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Redford Township police took to Facebook to alert residents in neighborhoods along Five Mile Road about several recent home invasions. Police said the criminals are waiting for people to go to work before busting out windows and getting into homes. “A few of us have pretty young kids.”Gleason is one of several neighbors on the block who have spotted suspicious activity. “We had two cars in the last month on the corner for four to five hours,” Gleason said. Residents are worried because of children in the area who like to play outside.

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Garden City police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a home invasion last month. Police said the man broke into a home at about 2 p.m. on Jan. 30. Police did not specify the exact location of the home because of the ongoing investigation, but they said it was between Ford Road and Marquette Street and between Hubbard Street and Venoy Road. DETROIT – Two men were arrested Tuesday morning after a police chase that ended in a rollover crash along Ryan Road just south of 8 Mile Road in Detroit. The men, both 27 years old, were caught in a home invasion when neighbors called police. They took off in a vehicle and police followed. The suspects ended up crashing the vehicle into a pole on Ryan Road just south of 8 Mile Road. Somehow no one was seriously injured in the rollover crash.

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a Van Buren Township home invasion that happened Wednesday afternoon. The attempted home invasion was reported around 12:26 p.m. in the area of Ecorse and Hannan. Police say the man entered the homeowner’s property after removing the lock from the gate and then checked all the doors. The wanted man is described as white, 35-45 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black and green coat with a US flag on the upper left sleeve, blue jeans and black shoes at the time.

DETROIT – One person was fatally shot, another was injured and an intruder was stabbed to death when three people broke into a home in Detroit’s Bagley neighborhood over a liquor debt, according to police Chief James Craig. Police said three men broke into a home around 1 p.m. Monday in the 18000 block of Santa Rosa Drive in Detroit because of a $20 liquor debt. A 17-year-old boy inside the home was shot and killed, police said. Officials said the third person inside the home was not injured. “Upon forcing entry one person produced a gun and shot someone,” Detroit police Capt.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Police are investigating a reported home invasion that happened Sunday around 1:10 a.m. at a home on Oxford Avenue near Shiawassee Street, where an unknown man was found standing just inside the front door of the residence. The intruder is described as a black man between 20 to 25 years old who was wearing a white colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored baseball cap. Police say he fled the area in a gray colored SUV southbound on Oxford Avenue toward Independence Street. Officers are conducting increased patrols in the area.
