In addition, the vape store owners said the statewide ban will force their customers to return to smoking cigarettes or obtain unregulated products.

Prosecutors had suggested Huffman spend one month in prison and pay a $20,000 fine. Ultimately, Huffman "knew it was a fraud," Judge Indira Talwani said, adding, "it was not an impulsive act." In last week's letter to Talwani, Huffman tried to explain why she felt she had to participate in the scam. "I had no adequate answer for her," Huffman wrote.
