READ: I-75 modernization project: Northbound single-lane closures in Oakland County to begin FridaySouthbound I-75 will have one lane open from Crooks to 13 Mile roads from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday. The southbound I-75 exit to Big Beaver Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday. By early October, two lanes of northbound I-75 are expected to be open via the left and center lanes throughout the limits of segment two. Access to northbound I-75 entrance and exit ramps will be maintained once the lanes are shifted. Both directions of I-75 will have two lanes open between 8 Mile and Adams roads until late November. William Charles Heil, 65, of Angola, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car was pushed into the rear of a second semitrailer, police said. The crash that also involved three other passenger vehicles occurred about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on northbound Interstate 69, about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) north of the Auburn exit, police said. Auburn is north of Fort Wayne and south of the state line with Michigan.

Southbound I-75 traffic has been sharing the northbound side of the freeway between Adams and 13 Mile roads due to road and bridge reconstruction. Beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, one lane will be closed on southbound I-75 between Adams and 13 Mile roads to prepare for the switch. Officials say that southbound I-75 traffic will be utilizing the newly constructed southbound lanes by 5 a.m. on Friday. Officials say there will be two lanes open for both directions on I-75 between 8 Mile and Adams roads during Labor Day weekend.

Westbound I-96 was closed for several hours at Davison but has reopened to traffic. An investigation revealed the driver of a pickup truck tried to make an abrupt exit from the westbound I-96 local lanes. However, his pickup side-swiped another vehicle and rolled several times, police said. Both the pickup driver and a passenger were rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital.

WTVD reports the demonstration is being called SlowDown2StopRacism. Drivers were asked to slow the traffic to advance the peoples movement to end systemic racism.Video shows vehicles slowing down to about 10 mph on the interstate, essentially blocking four lanes of traffic. Some drivers were trying to work their way around the demonstration. Watch here:WTVD reports that after about 40 minutes, North Carolina State Highway Patrol officers started pulling over some of the cars.

Two lanes on eastbound I-94 have been blocked for hours near Schaefer Highway. Police said the Chrysler crashed into the truck when the truck was getting up to speed when entering eastbound I-94 from Schaefer Highway. The female driver of the Chrysler suffered serious injuries to her legs, police said. The truck driver was not hurt.
