Valerie O’Brien was arrested on Feb. 10 after a Michigan State Police trooper pulled her over just off Interstate 96 west of Lansing. A video shows O’Brien yelling at the trooper that she was going to sue him. WILX-TV, which first obtained the video, reported that O’Brien is on paid leave since her arrest. UPDATE: 3 dead after shooting on I-96 in Detroit: What we knowState police shut down both the eastbound and westbound express lanes of the freeway for several hours before reopening just before 4 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they started receiving reports of two cars shooting at each other on the freeway just after 10 p.m. Monday. A female in the vehicle was also shot and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A jeep that was struck in the shooting received damage to its back window, driver’s side window and door and one of the tires. Sources said the man driving the jeep told police he was shot at while driving on the Southfield Freeway north of Joy Road, which lead police to shut down the lanes Tuesday night and start walking the freeway looking for shell casings. Police sources said after the man was shot at, he pulled over near I-96 and Greenfield and called a family member to come and get him. It is unknown what led to the shooting.

Police say around 4 p.m. the Detroit man was traveling westbound at a high speed on the I-96 local lanes exit to Grand River Avenue and Schaefer Highway when he lost control of the vehicle. The man hit the wall at the base of the ramp and then rolled down the freeway, officials said. According to police the man was ejected from the vehicle. Officials say excessive speed and failure to wear a seatbelt are factors in the single car crash.
