The NBA G League gives top young prospects a chance to begin their professional careers while receiving mentorship and life skills training. Kuminga will have the opportunity to accelerate his on-court development as he learns NBA-style basketball. Kuminga joins Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix and Kai Sotto as top high school recruits from the Class of 2020 who have signed to play in the NBA G League for the 2020-21 season. Five-time NBA champion Brian Shaw will serve as head coach of their team, which will be unaffiliated with any existing NBA G League franchise or NBA team.

Todd also chose Michigan over offers from college basketball blue bloods such as Kentucky and North Carolina. Highest-ranked recruitWith a 247 Sports Composite score of 0.9965, Todd is the highest-ranked player in Michigan basketball history, replacing Glenn Robinson III, who earned a .9934 rating in the class of 2012. Robinson and Dion Harris -- class of 2003 -- were the only five-star players in the history of Michigan basketball, according to 247 Sports. Those players were familiar with Michigan because of Beilein, though, while Todd's commitment is more a product of Howard's recruiting.
