The men were found about 190 kilometers (118 miles) from where they had set out. The men were found in good condition, and an Australian military helicopter was able to land on the beach and give them food and water. SOS is an internationally recognized distress signal that originates from Morse code.

He was flying an experimental ultralight plane and witnesses said the plane clipped a tree and crashed in the woods behind a neighborhood. He was the only person on board. The FAA and NTSB is investigating.

At least 10 American citizens have died in the Dominican Republic in the last year, according to the US State Department, victims' families and the involved resorts. He denied Americans are canceling their vacations to the Dominican Republic.
