Greg Kihn, a rock and roll musician best known for his '80s hit songs “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song,” has died.

Students from Emerson School finished 13th out of 141 at a national quiz bowl tournament in Chicago in May.

With more than 9,000 shows recorded, Trebek had plenty of memorable moments over the decades. For those unfamiliar with “Jeopardy!,” Trebek presented himself as scholarly, serious, reserved -- all business, but he was really a down-to-earth person who had a bit of a wacky sense of humor. Even at age 80 and in stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Trebek brought optimism to the show ever day.

In 2019, Alex Trebek made the difficult decision to share his cancer diagnosis with the public, but it raised awareness. By doing that, he raised so much awareness about pancreatic cancer. One of the issues with public awareness is that unfortunately the patients don’t live long enough to tell their story and to raise awareness,” Fleshman said. “It really allows people and the general audience to understand that pancreatic cancer is real, and it can affect you or it can affect me,” said Dr. David Kwon, clinical director of Henry Ford Pancreatic Cancer Center. Trebek died from pancreatic cancer about 20 months after he was diagnosed, but his shared journey has left a lasting impact.

Wednesday’s Jeopardy! episode did not air on Local 4 at its 7:30 p.m. scheduled time due to continuous news reports on the riot in Washington D.C. The episode will air at 7 p.m. Jan. 7, followed by the already scheduled Jan. 7 episode at 7:30 p.m. The episode is one of the last to feature longtime host Alex Trebek, who died in November.
