Michigan State Police say at about 5 p.m. the Berkley woman lost control of the jet ski she was operating and collided with a dock. Unsuccessful life-saving measures were attempted by officers following the crash, police say. The woman died before being taken to the hospital. A second passenger, a 33-year-old woman from California, was also injured in the crash.

Oscar Suarez, 32, and Magdalena Devil, 25, went missing June 24 after they rented a Jet Ski on Holetown Beach. The Jet Ski was recovered Saturday off the coast of the island of Guadeloupe by a French navy ship, according to a news release from Roy Morris, press secretary to Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley. There was no sign of either Suarez or Devil, the release said, citing French authorities.

The United States, which was helping with the search, withdrew its assisting aircraft on Saturday, Morris also said. Oscar Suarez, 32 and Magdalena Devil, 25, rented the Jet Ski from a local company at Holetown Beach in Barbados on June 24. The Police Marine Unit and Barbados Coast Guard both searched the waters but did not find the couple or the Jet Ski, police said.
