Jewel Ware was first elected to the Wayne County Commission in 1994 and served as Commission Chair from 2003 through 2008. County commissioners unanimously adopted the resolution which also calls on the Michigan legislature to provide additional funding for police training. Require officers to de-escalate situations before using force. Ban officers from shooting at moving vehicles. Require officers to be trained to identify and recognize those who have mental and physical disabilities.
