Andrew Cuomo's administration falsified figures to downplay deaths in nursing homes. Runestad accused the attorney general of abdicating her responsibility and said legislative committees had been unable to get data from the state. AdIn New York, state Attorney General Letitia James has been investigating nursing homes based on neglect allegations and noncompliance with infection-control protocols. Hundreds of other nursing homes can still retain or admit infected residents because they have a designated area for them, typically in the same building.

Senate Bill 218 aims to prohibit a transgender boy from playing on a boys team as well as transgender girls playing on girls teams. The bill was introduced by Sen. Lana Theis (R-Brighton) and co-sponsored by 12 other GOP senators, including Rep. Jim Runestad (R-White Lake). That’s what matters most.”Runestad contends that you can be a supporter of transgender rights yet still object to transgender girls competing on girls teams. However, Knott said there is not an example of high school transgender athletes taking those opportunities.

The U.S. Supreme Court in 2014 said warrants are necessary in an age when phones and computers are loaded with sensitive information. Michigan would join 12 states with similar provisions, according to the Citizens Research Council of Michigan. It represents strong protections for electronic data,” said Bill Vailliencourt, the Livingston County prosecutor and past president of the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan. “If the U.S. Supreme Court were ever to change its interpretation of the Fourth Amendment, this would provide separate protection,” he said.

The ballot measure would amend the Michigan constitution to include electronic data and electronic communications as items law enforcement would require a search warrant to access. Michigan is not the first state to try to legislate for reasonable cause and a search warrant to obtain electronic data. In a committee meeting in October, he said third-party companies can forward electronic data to law enforcement, avoiding the requirement of a warrant.
