The streaming giant scooped up 20 small-screen nods โ nearly three times as many as its closest competitor, HBO, and beating the 17 TV nominations it got last year. Streaming newcomer HBO Max scored two nominations with โThe Flight Attendant,โ a best comedy TV berth and also earned โThe Big Bang Theoryโ veteran Kaley Cuoco her first Globe nod. Little-known Pop TV earned five nominations โ all for the Canadian comedy โSchittโs Creek,โ which swept the comedy Emmy Awards last year. AdโThe Greatโ now faces โThe Flight Attendant,โ โSchittโs Creek,โ โEmily in Parisโ and โTed Lassoโ for bragging rights to best comedy TV series.

The Flight Attendant is a dark thriller with comedic overtones, letting Cuoco employ the love of laughter she honed for 12 seasons on the CBS comedy. Cuoco said she won a bidding war for the rights to the novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian. She stars as Cassie Bowden, a flight attendant who wakes up in the wrong hotel in the wrong bed with a dead man, and has no idea what happened. I don't mess around, I hit my mark, I may be late in the car, never late on set," Perez said.

The one-hour drama will air on WarnerMedia's upcoming streaming service with playwright and TV writer Steve Yockey (The CW's "Supernatural") adapting the novel. Cuoco and Yockey are both executive producing the project, along with uber-producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (The CW's "Arrow" and "Riverdale").
