A federal judge granted preliminary approval Thursday to a $641 million deal that would benefit Flint residents who were harmed by the water. The decision opens to the doors for the next step and an opportunity for the people of Flint to collect damages. As the court considers a final ruling in this settlement, we will continue to keep our focus on healing this embattled city. FLINT, Mich. A big decision in federal court could mean big money for the city of Flint in the future. A federal judge opened the door to residents being able to take legal action against the federal government over the Flint water crisis. FLINT, Mich. Voters have elected a new mayor in Flint, Michigan, where recovery from a lead-contaminated water crisis remains a major issue. Former Flint city councilman and current state Rep. Sheldon Neeley on Tuesday defeated incumbent Mayor Karen Weaver. Weaver served one term as Flint mayor and survived a recall effort in 2017. But she recently told The Flint Journal the city must finish replacing lead pipes. Flint voters also passed a public library millage and public library bond proposal on Tuesday.

FLINT, Mich. – Mayor Karen Weaver held a news conference Friday morning to discuss the ongoing Flint water crisis. Weaver provided an update to the FAST Start initiative, a program to replace all the lead service lines in Flint and restore safe, clean drinking water. Weaver is also expected to discuss plans to hire Flint residents to increase water and filter distribution.
