Crews are closing the highway for concrete repair and curing in cold temperatures, officials said. All southbound traffic will exit at Larned Street, just north of Jefferson Avenue. The diversion will last through early November. One northbound lane of I-375 will be closed through Tuesday (Oct. 20).

The celebration concluded with the publics first chance to see the new Power to the People mural on Woodward Avenue, from Jefferson Avenue to Larned Street. The red, white and black mural was painted by 20 student artists from Detroit Public Schools and Detroit Heals Detroit. Renowned artist Hubert Massey was chosen by the students to lead the mural installation, due to his community outreach and work with young people. RELATED: Local everyday hero inspires through artMassey has artwork in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Athletic Club and the TCF Center.

The road is closed between the Lodge Freeway and Griswold Street. City workers found a "significant cavity" below a portion of Larned Street near Shelby Street. MDOT is working on closing the Larned Street exit on the Lodge Freeway before Monday rush hour. Residents are encouraged to use Bagley Street or Jefferson Avenue as alternate exits.
