Maureen Miller Brosnan defeated Laura Toy by only 164 votes. Bronsan already has plans for when she takes office next year. 1 job upon taking office in January is going to be to make sure that we have a well-staffed fire and police department, she said. Bronsan will be working alongside a city council made up of new and old members.

Tuesday's primary narrowed the candidates to two women, Laura Toy and Maureen Miller Brosnan. I am the youngest person to ever serve on the Livonia City Council," Miller Brosnan said. "I am really, really good at engaging people around a central idea and able to advance creative ideas," Miller Brosnan said. Miller Brosnan has been endorsed by the Livonia Police Officers Association and the Livonia Lieutenants and Sergeant's Association.
