‘Brick Bash’ will bring out your inner-play

The North American International Auto Show runs through the end of the weekend, and along with that there are plenty of other events happening around the D that you and your family could check out.

We have just one more weekend before the big Labor Day holiday weekend to get out and enjoy some fun happenings around the D! Labor Day is the unofficial end to Summer, but you can still get out and enjoy what’s left of the season. There are plenty events happening around Detroit for just about everyone.

He may be in his 60s, but Jimmy Attard is absolutely living out a dream a whole lot of us had as kids. Attard has spent decades transforming the basement of his Dearborn home into an epic slot car racing track, and you really need to see it to believe it.

A visually impaired boy who was once able to foster his love for Legos while a family friend wrote out instructions for him in Braille is now working with the company to develop audio building guides. That boy, Matthew Shifrin, was born blind. She learned Braille to engage with me and support my Lego passion and then spent countless hours translating Lego instructions into Braille, Shifrin said. Lego building is one of the things we can do.The project Shifrin is working on is currently in a pilot phase. Instructions are available online, either in Braille or from an audio reader recorder or screen reader.

Now, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, he's going to be building Lego's new lunar landing set. Rod Meloni is going to compete against a 12 year old to see who can build the better Lego lunar lander. Whoever completes their lunar lander first will be declared the winner! Well, Legoland Discovery Center Michigan is looking to make that happen. Play is no joke at the Legoland Discovery Center and playmakers will even complete a course to learn about the fundamentals of play. The course will focus on the key skills to facilitate play including how children develop through play, how to communicate to children of different ages inspiring and engaging children with play and how to include adults in play. By becoming an expert in the theory and practice of play, playmakers ensure that families have a great time at Legoland Discovery Center. Hayley Anderson, the general manager of Legoland Discovery Center Michigan, believes that the playmaker program gives her staff the skills to ensure every family that visits will have an awesome Lego play experience.
