Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson on Monday, a project initiated this fall after allegations of systemic racism roiled the public college. But “VMI does not define itself by this statue and that is why this move is appropriate,” he added. VMI said the statue will be relocated to a nearby Civil War museum at a battlefield where dozens of VMI cadets were killed or wounded. But he said it would not remove the statue of Jackson, who owned enslaved people, or rethink the names of buildings honoring Confederate leaders. In 2015, VMI did away with requiring freshmen to salute the statue each time they passed it, Wyatt said.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police have surrounded a Redford Township home Thursday afternoon where an armed man has barricaded himself. Officials say a domestic situation at a residence in the area of Lexington and Norfolk resulted in the gunman pointing a firearm at another individual. When officers responded to the scene, the gunman pointed the weapon at the hostage and barricaded himself inside the home, police say. It is unclear who is inside the home with the gunman at this time. Officials say officers will enter the home at some point.

The initial time of 1:59.19 provided by Equibase used available video replay. Further review determined fractions of 23.20, 46.84, 1:10.32, 1:34.64 and confirming a final time of 1:59.60. Authentic’s time broke the mark of 2:00.07 by 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

Justin Sullivan/Getty Images(CNN) - A Kentucky doctor's medical license was placed on probation for five years after his wife improperly handled flu vaccines and wrote prescriptions under his name, according to Kentucky's medical licensing board. After the clinic received calls reporting adverse reactions from at least 16 patients, McLaughlin's wife, Fairshinda McLaughlin, began prescribing short-term antibiotics to treat the reactions, the order said. Paul McLaughlin was fined $5,000 and must reimburse the board $1,793.75, the order said. KDPH also said that the clinic's operator and those who handled and administered the vaccines were all unlicensed medical professionals. According to the order, Paul McLaughlin denied that he had delegated his medical responsibilities or reacted inappropriately to the vaccination reactions.
