Today’s Music Monday guest is a local musician who says he always wanted to play music, but only got started recently. Despite the late start, Damon Terrell was able to pick up multiple instruments, including guitar, piano, drums, and bass, and uses them to create his own albums. “I just picked the guitar up first, my primary, and prayed,” Terrell said. He said he makes music with a funky, urban 70′s sound, which he hopes takes listeners to a place of passion and peace. During quarantine, Terrell has been keeping up with his listeners on social media, doing pop up performances and interacting with fans.

Most local musicians are trying their best to continue to make music that people love to hear live, and one of those artists is Dan Tillery. Dan joined Tati Amare, with his best pups Maui and Diggy, to discuss how he is still making his fun, feel-good music during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dan said he was blessed to be able to perform on patios and outdoor locations over the summer, and now he is adjusting to moving to digital shows where people can enjoy his music from the comfort and safety of their homes. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Starting Friday, Edgefest is returning to Ann Arbor for its 24th year with a schedule of six virtual shows. Originally planned as a four-day event to take place this month, the annual celebration of music was transformed into a series of virtual concerts. In lieu of tickets, audiences are encouraged to donate to Edgefest organizer, Kerrytown Concert House, an Ann Arbor nonprofit concert venue. Following this year’s original brass theme of “Partial to the Edge,” each concert features artists and musicians from southeast Michigan and around the US. The 25th Edgefest is anticipated to take place in October 2021.

GMac Cash raised money to buy the Governor new glasses, but when she wouldn’t accept them, he put the money to good use. But the Governor’s office said, they couldn’t accept the glasses and wanted GMac Cash to use the money raised to help out the community.

CLEVELAND – The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 nominations include nine first-timers. Five of the 16 nominees will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year. Depeche ModeDepeche Mode has been nominated for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2017 and 2018. Judas PriestJudas Priest has been nominated for a second time; it was also nominated for the 2018 class. The band was nominated for the Class of 2003, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

DETROIT – Kanye West was met with thousands of fans for his Sunday Service at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre on Friday. The only West tracks sung during the service were "Father Stretch My Hands" and "Ultralight Beam" from "The Life of Pablo." The simplicity of this afternoon's service, compared to West's previous Sunday Service performances which have featured startling, pulsing lights in California and eerie vibes that inspired Teletubbies comparisons at Coachella, made it that much more holy. Previously, West prioritized his artistry, but in Detroit, West let God take the spotlight. West will be at the Fox Theatre in Detroit tonight for the premiere of Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience.

The night kicked off with some confusion outside The Crofoot in Pontiac as two lines formed for two very different shows.

Detroit's Big Sean delivered an emotional tribute to Nipsey Hussle, a friend and fellow artist who was shot and killed last week in Los Angeles. Big Sean, performing at the Dreamville Festival, dedicated a verse to Nipsey. After the verse, Sean also thanked Nipsey for everything he contributed.
