You see, a cold front crossed the area around that time and, within two-to-three hours, temperatures had plummeted into the mid 30s (1 to 2 degrees Celsius), and that’s pretty much where we’ve been all day. Lows in the low 20s (-6 degrees Celsius), with a west wind at 10 to 15 mph. Temperatures may initially drop into the mid-to-upper 20s (-3 to -2 degrees Celsius), but then rise to near 30 degrees (-1 degrees Celsius) by dawn Wednesday. Lows near 30 degrees (-1 degrees Celsius).

We saw this process in all its glory Friday night, and Metro Airport’s Saturday morning low of 38 degrees (3.5 degrees Celsius) tied our record low set in 1982. Saturday night lows will range from near or a little above 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius) in our Urban Heat Island, to mid-to-upper 30s (1 to 4 degrees Celsius) in areas away from the city and inland from the Great Lakes. The Week AheadThe upcoming week will be a spectacular week of Pure Michigan fall weather! We’ll start the new work week with highs Monday approaching 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius), and then warm into the mid to upper 70s (23 to 26 degrees Celsius) for the rest of the week.

Expect winds to spike to 30 mph and higher when the cold front sweeps through around 8 p.m. Any showers will be very light and won't cover much ground, but they'll be more likely in our West and North zones. Winds will calm down a bit for the Eleanor's March for HOPE on Sunday in Detroit. Next week will bring a few light shower chances, but temperatures will remain below normal until next weekend.
