Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday morning involving vehicles that caught fire and a semi truck. On Friday at 9:30 a.m. MSP started getting calls about the crash that has closed Eastbound M-14 between Haggerty and Sheldon roads. Police say the semi truck struck three vehicles that were either stopped or slowing down in backed up traffic. A person was killed when one of the vehicles caught fire, according to MSP. Police say the area will be closed for a long period as the investigation continues.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Those leaving Ann Arbor by eastbound M-14 tonight and Friday night will have to find another route. From 9 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the northbound U.S. 23 ramp to eastbound M-14 ramp will be temporarily closed for construction, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Heads up Ann Arbor. MDOT will close eastbound M-14 from I-94 to Main Street over the Huron River for six hours on Sunday morning to repair bridge railing. While the lanes are closed, the suggested alternate route will be eastbound I-94 to northbound US-23.

Eastbound I-96 is back open to traffic just after M-14 after a brief shutdown due to a vehicle fire. A car hauler caught fire on the interstate. The fire was put out. Traffic is getting by again. No injuries have been reported.
