Eastbound I-696 at M-5 near the I-96 interchange is closed early Monday morning due to a jackknifed semi-truck.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is warning residents that I-96 will be down to one lane between the I-275/I696/M-5 interchange and Kent Lake Road.

The eastbound lanes on I-696 are closed after I-275 Sunday afternoon due to a traffic crash, police say.

Interstate 275 -- both northbound and southbound -- in Farmington Hills has reopened after it was closed due to power lines that have fallen on the freeway near Grand River Avenue.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A driver was killed Wednesday morning when a vehicle drove off of eastbound I-696 near M-5 and struck a bridge abutment, Michigan State Police said. The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. on eastbound I-696 in Farmington Hills. The vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck the bridge. The interstate was shut down at M-5 in Farmington Hills. State police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash and working to identify the victim.

Eastbound lanes on I-96 are closed in Oakland County on Saturday. Officials say eastbound I-96 is closed at the M-5 Freeway as of 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The cause for the closure was not announced. More: Local Traffic

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A 24-year-old Hamtramck man was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking on M-5 near Halsted Road. The victim was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills where he was pronounced dead. The victim was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on M-5. Police said alcohol and visibility were factors in the crash. Anyone with information should contact Farmington Hills police at 248-871-2610.

A man was killed March 3, 2020 when he was struck by a vehicle along I-275 near M-5 in Oakland County. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Michigan State Police closed southbound I-275 at the M-5/I-96/I-696 interchange for a deadly crash investigation on Tuesday morning. State police said a man believed to be in his 50s was struck by another car, a Chrysler 300. State police originally said the man was outside of his vehicle because he was changing a tire. The driver of the Chrysler 300, a man believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

NOVI, Mich. Both directions of M-5 were closed Thursday morning between 12 Mile Road and eastbound I-96 due to multiple crashes. The road is back open to traffic now. The roads were a bit slick this Thursday morning as Metro Detroiters wake up to the first real snowfall of the season. Drivers are advised to take caution and plan for a longer commute. They were telling drivers to avoid this area.
