The group responsible for redrawing the boundaries of six Michigan Senate districts in the Metro Detroit area is asking for the public’s input at a series of meetings.

The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission held a public hearing in Downtown Detroit to ask people to speak up about congressional and legislative maps. The new proposed maps highlighting the new drawings are getting a lot of backlash.

The Michigan Supreme Court on Friday denied a petition to grant relief to the state’s redistricting panel, who expects to adopt new congressional and legislative maps months later than allowed by the constitution.
