Ford is cutting prices on its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV by as much as $6,000 just weeks after market leader Tesla made similar moves.

Ford Motor Company is recalling about 50,000 Mustang Mach-E as there seem to be electrical connector issues causing sudden and dangerous acceleration changes. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states it’s a real problem keeping the vehicle under control as the battery sometimes sending it into wild fits of speed or cutting off.

But in a new campaign for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, it’s women that Ford wants to appeal to. The carmaker has teamed up with ballerina Misty Copeland to kick things off. Copeland made history as the first Black woman to be a principal dancer at a prestigious dance company. Together, Copeland and Ford have launched a social media challenge called the “Mustang Mach-E #ShowSomeMuscle” social media challenge. Ford says the challenge provides a platform for women in the workplace and at home to flex their muscles and shine a light on their resiliency and achievements.

The Mustang has to have soul, and this thing has great driving dynamics, and its really fun to drive, Ford said. Autotrader analyst Michelle Krebs said Ford wants to change the way people view electric vehicles. This is sending a very strong signal of where Ford is headed, Ford said. So far, electric vehicles are only a couple of percentage points of all new vehicles, and everybodys coming at the market with them, Krebs said.
