The Madison Heights Fire Department wants help finding their stolen utility pickup truck.

Two men -- one armed with what police called an “AR-15 style pistol” -- tried and failed to steal an SUV early Monday morning in Madison Heights, officials said.

A Troy man is charged after he is accused of kidnapping a 5-year-old baby Thursday morning in Richmond Township.

Police said he stole the mother's car, leaving his own in her driveway.

The biological father of a 5-week-old girl snuck into a Macomb County home by crawling underneath it and entering through a crawl space so he could kidnap the child, state police said.

Madison Heights police said the weapon that the teen was carrying is believed to have been altered to look real.

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A search is underway for a driver who took off after hitting a Madison Heights officer and leading police on a chase down Interstate 75. At about 6 p.m. Monday, the Madison Heights Police Department was called to the Midas parking lot on 12 Mile Road west of John R Road to check on a man inside his car slumped over the wheel. The chase ended near 7 Mile Road with no sign of the man’s vehicle. Police identified the man as 31-year-old Justin John Crawford. Anyone with information is asked to call Madison Heights police.

One of the attempted murder charges is expected to change to murder following the stepfather’s death.
