They terminated the pursuit at the border of Royal Oak, near 11 Mile and John R roads. Royal Oak officers saw the car, which had no license plate, heading west on 11 Mile Road near Stephenson Highway, according to authorities. Officers called Royal Oak firefighters, who used the jaws of life to free the man from the wreckage. Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Royal Oak officials are investigating the crash.

As the driver was approaching traffic on Stevenson Highway, he goes onto the sidewalk to maneuver around cars. McDonough was previously convicted in 2008 for fleeing and eluding.

The victim was found lying in the south-bound lane of Dequindre Road about 8 p.m. Tuesday. Multiple people stopped to block traffic until first responders arrived, according to the Madison Heights Police Department. The victim was seen asking for money prior to the incident and is suspected of being homeless, according to the MHPD. Police urge the driver, and anyone with information regarding the incident, to contact the department at 248-582-2100.
