The shelter at Orchard Beach State Park now is 230 feet from Lake Michigan in Manistee, the Department of Natural Resources said. The shelter stood for more than 70 years on a bluff, which has become unstable due to waves and rising water levels. Orchard Beach State Park is 60 miles southwest of Traverse City. Along with the park, the pavilion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Michigan State Police say at about 9:50 p.m. four teenage males from Manistee County were driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on River Road in Manistee Township when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the side of the road. Police say when they arrived at the scene, one passenger was still stuck inside the vehicle and had to be removed. All four occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. Police believe that alcohol and speed may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities in Grand Traverse County wont publicly say it was a murder-suicide, although they say theres no threat to the public. Tara Kelley and Angelina Winn were found dead Friday at their home near Kingsley. Both transferred to Oaks Correctional Facility, near Manistee, after the Pugsley prison was closed. The 53-year-old Kelley was named officer of the year at Pugsley in 2013.
