AdThe history of people of color being arrested and prosecuted for marijuana-related offenses makes them less likely to be given opportunities to participate in the industry, workgroup member and attorney Barton Morris said. The workgroup found that access to the necessary capital and information on operating marijuana businesses in accordance with rules set by municipalities are big barriers for people of color. The MRA could also establish a webinar and training sessions for municipalities to learn how to equitably create ordinances for marijuana businesses and share ideas. AdState Rep. Sarah Anthony, who is on the workgroup, said members plan to have those who come to communities to educate on the marijuana industry be reflective of those communities.

Read full article: Michigan recalls marijuana product after someone licked pre-rolls during assemblyThe Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) announced Thursday a recall on contaminated pre-rolls from retail outlets at Bay City, Hazel Park, Detroit, Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Lansing, River Rouge, Ferndale, Quincy, Lowell, Negaunee and Lapeer. According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), the investigation was initiated on July 31. Consumers who have any of the contaminated pre-rolls in their possession should return them to the retailer where they were purchased for proper disposal. Consumers who have experienced symptoms after using these products should report their symptoms and product use to their physician. Consumers are also asked to report any adverse product reactions to the MRA via email at MRA-Enforcement@michigan.gov or call 517-284-8599.

Products were recalled in August after testing positive for chemical residue of bifenazate, cadmium, arsenic and chromium. The settlement requires the company to pay a $100,000 fine, update its procedures and provide data and reports to the MRA for a year. "It is imperative that our safety compliance facilities and all of our licensees adhere strictly to the law and the administrative rules. The diligence with which our enforcement team investigated and brought these issues to light demonstrates the commitment that the MRA has in protecting marijuana patients here in Michigan."

WALLED LAKE, Mich. - On Friday, the Marijuana Regulatory Agency issued a formal complaint against and summarily suspended the license of Iron Laboratories, a medical marijuana safety compliance facility located in Walled Lake. MRA determined that the safety or health of patrons or employees is jeopardized by the continued operation of Iron Laboratories, and that emergency action is required, and has ordered Iron Laboratories license be summarily suspended, effective immediately. The complaint alleges numerous violations related to Iron Laboratories testing and reporting results for pesticides, yeasts and molds (microbials), and THC content. The MRA has not been made aware of any adverse product reactions in conjunction with product tested by Iron Laboratories and is not recalling any marijuana product at this time.
