A call for help has been issued as Detroit Animal Care and Control no longer has a veterinarian.

A free spay and neuter clinic is going to be held in Detroit next week and aims to sterilize 120 dogs. There are limited spots available.

To celebrate the Detroit Tigers’ home opener this weekend, Detroit Animal Care and Control is waiving all adoption fees for adoptable pets through Monday.

To kick off the new year, a Detroit animal shelter is offering free pet adoptions and waiving licensing fees through Tuesday.

The shelter has space for 84 and is currently housing 150 dogs.

Nearly 50 dogs found new homes on Friday. Now Detroit Animal Care and Control hopes another dozen will find new families on Saturday.

DETROIT – The City of Detroit is making big changes to Animal Care and Control following a deadly dog mauling earlier this year, just one instance of dog-related violence in the city in recent years.
