Hundreds of struggling families will benefit from the newly announced $20M Detroit Home Repair Fund.

The city of Detroit is announcing Thursday morning the groundbreaking on a housing development in District Detroit.

Wednesday (Feb. 9), Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced a plan to raise the minimum wage for Detroit city workers to $15 an hour, and with councils approval, it’s going to go in place sooner rather than later.

Detroit’s Chief Health Officer says that there is a lot of concern over the omicron variant as it is exploding across the city. Only 46% of Detroiter’s have received their first dose of the vaccine, while 38% have two shots.

DETROIT – Mayor Mike Duggan announced his run for re-election in 2021 on Wednesday. Duggan has been in office since 2013. He won re-election in 2017, meaning this would be his third term if elected. Other potential 2021 candidates for Detroit mayor include Rep. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, a Michigan state representative, and state Rep. Shri Thanedar, who ran for Michigan governor in 2018.
