A lawsuit was filed against the Melvindale Police Department, claiming an officer was racially discriminated and targeted during his time there by his coworkers.

The officer claims he would try to report the behavior, only for the incidents to allegedly never be investigated.

Community members gathered outside the Melvindale Police Department, where officer Said worked for just over a year. People came from all over to remember Said and support his family.

Police are hoping the public can help provide them with some information after a woman was struck in a hit-and-run crash in Melvindale.

Police responded after reports came in about a Detroit Fire Department rig being parked outside a Melvindale bar.

Police are searching for a man in connection with the overdose death of a woman who was found dead last October inside a car in Melvindale.

One officer was injured in the incident.

MELVINDALE, Mich. – The Melvindale Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the family of a boy found wandering. “Anyone know this child? He was found wandering near Palmer and Oakwood,” asked the Melvindale Police Department in a Facebook post written Saturday morning.
