Tuesday will bring more sunshine. The passage of a cold front will make it cooler, but temperatures will still be above normal.

Wind chills tonight will reach -20 to -25, making it one of the coldest nights we have seen in years.

The snow will begin after midnight and last through Thursday morning. This means the morning commute will be cold and snowy with the possibility of slick roads.

As the long holiday weekend winds down, people are making their way back home.

Widespread rain across Southeast Michigan this afternoon as a low pressure system develops over the region. Colder air filtering in will eventually result in snow showers developing by early Thursday.

Metro Airport last reported a day with clear skies on Nov. 8. The region last had a day of partly cloudy skies on Wednesday. Apart from partly cloudy skies on Monday, Southeast Michigan will have a stretch of cloudy, rainy and windy weather.

The dry weather sticks around into the end of the week and start of the upcoming weekend

The “temperature seesaw” saw temperatures around 80 degrees last Monday (Oct. 21). During the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 27, much of Southeast Michigan had temperatures in the 20s. Within the next couple of days, highs will be the 70s again.

The workweek has ended starkly cooler than it began in Metro Detroit. The cool air will be reinforced across Southeast Michigan this weekend.

DETROIT – Detroit Metro Airport measured 0.2 inches of snow on Tuesday, which is our first official measurable snow of the season. Partly cloudy, windy and warmer on Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees (15 to 16 degrees Celsius). Partly cloudy Friday night, with lows near 40 degrees (4 degrees Celsius). Highs near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius). There’s a much better chance of rain on Sunday, with highs near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius).

Thats our fifth daily rainfall record set here in Detroit since July 1st, and our 8th since the beginning of the year. Since some of you will ask the question Is global warming causing this?, let me briefly address this. Global warming did not cause the storms that gave us that rainfall. So, it is accurate to say that, while global warming does not cause specific storms, it does predispose them to drop more rain. Mostly Dry WeekOther than a slight shower chance Wednesday, most of us will be dry until thunderstorms arrive on Father's Day. To be fair, Metro didn't get soaked with last week's storms where many locations picked up more than an inch of rain. But by the time that Sunday rain chance rolls around, it will be more than welcome.
