This pandemic has been a hardship for many, including local charities that have a mission to help those in need and provide hope. There’s one charity that’s picking up “Truckloads of Hope,” and helping those in the community. All 38 Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are collecting donations of toiletries, socks, underwear, sheets, blankets, and hand sanitizer for their “Truckloads of Hope” event. Capuchin Soup Kitchen collects these types of donations for their Shower Programs, which assist those who have inadequate shelter. The Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers’ “Truckloads of Hope” will be collecting donations until March 31.

DETROIT – The Detroit Free Press and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers have teamed up for a program that helps to feed health care workers and local food banks. For the last month, Detroit Free Press has raised money to pay restaurants like Folk Detroit, $20 per meal donated -- as part of their Top 10 Cares program. Aimie Rosner is the Marketing and Events Director at the Detroit Free Press. We’ve, we’ve paid ourselves -- we pay our bills. The Whitmer Administration plans to implement another liquor buyback program for restaurants and bars and partner with Michigan restaurants to allow SNAP benefits for prepared meals.

The orchard is teaming up with local cider makers for an event filled with hard cider, donuts and slushes. It's happening at Shed Five Friday starting at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $20. Looking for fun things to do in the D for Labor Day weekend? Detroit Jazz FestivalThe Detroit Jazz festival is the largest, free, world-class jazz festival in the country. Michigan State FairRelive your memories of the State Fair this weekend. The fair will end on Labor Day. The show is on Sunday at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.Hamtramck Labor Day FestivalStarting Saturday, you can enjoy the famous yacht races going down Joseph Campau in Hamtramck.

They will be giving away 28,000 backpacks filled with supplies to Metro Detroit students in kindergarten through fifth grade who attend schools outside the Detroit Community Schools District. The Ribs and R&B Music Festival is Sunday, August 11th in Hart Plaza. Woodstock in Detroit is at Proud Lake in Wixom. The festival will feature rock and roll posters and band icons like Canned Heat who played at the original Woodstock in 1969. Pewabic Pottery is pitching a big tent and selling handcrafted giftware, tiles, and more discounted up to fifty percent. They will be selling pottery outside of their ceramic studio and school on east Jefferson Avenue.
