A freeze warning will be in effect Sunday night until 8 a.m. Monday for part of Southeast Michigan, including Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Lenawee counties.

Following evening rain showers, temperatures will tumble into the lower to mid 30s tonight. Temperatures near freezing will allow patchy frost to develop overnight. This could cause damage to tender annuals.

Showers and thunderstorms will wind down tonight, but it will remain breezy. Winds will be out of the southwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Lows will fall to the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.

It was nice to see some sunshine as we worked throughout our Wednesday, but it is short-lived. The clouds have moved back into the region, and we will keep them around, and remain dry as we go throughout our Thursday. The clouds, thanks to moisture moving into the region in advance of the rain showers that will head our way.  We will also add at least 5 degrees onto our high temperature for Thursday as well. High temperatures heading for the middle 40s by Thursday afternoon.

After a blast of cold and snow this past weekend, the year is set to end on a much different note, with warmer temperatures and rain returning.

What a weekend.  After sunshine with highs in the low-to-mid-50s (10 to 12 degrees Celsius) on Saturday, Mother Nature did an about face that left us with rain and temps near 40 degrees (4 to 5 degrees Celsius) on Sunday.

Rain clouds have moved into Metro Detroit overnight and into this morning, bringing some much needed rainfall into our forecast.

Good Thursday morning! We have had this trend of harmless high clouds streaking across the Michigan skies and that trend continues today. We have a mix of clear to partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the middle 40s to near 50 degrees for anyone heading out and about early for that walk to work or the simple walk to the car. These clouds are coming from bigger storms to our west, but they will produce no wet weather for us here in Metro Detroit both this morning and this afternoon.

More dense fog is expected through Sunday morning before we bring it wet weather heading into Halloween.

It’s finally Friday! Happy weekend everyone! We are off to a solid start with some cloud cover coming and going keeping Metro Detroit temps slightly warmer as you hit the road or pound the pavement. Friday morning temperatures are in the middle 30s to near 40F closer to the Big D. We have no moisture leaking from these morning clouds making for a smooth morning commute with some beautiful colors in the skies as the sun rises through the high clouds. Daylight Saving Time ends next weekend or the first Sunday in November when we fall back one hour which means our sunrise will be back closer to 7am in about 10 days.

Good Wednesday morning! We have had a few more significant rain showers move through Metro Detroit overnight with a few areas possibly seeing snowflakes trying to stick to grassy areas. Most of us are only seeing liquid precipitation. Temperatures are in the upper 30s with gusty winds creating tough wind chills in the upper 20s to low 30s and the need for a hat and gloves if you have to be out in it. There will be a few showers as we approach sunrise, so the wet roadways will slow down your drive as you get going on a Wednesday with the umbrella by your side. There’s not much good news in these cool temps and blustery conditions, but we also expect fewer showers throughout the day today.

It is a trouble-free start to your Tuesday here in Metro Detroit which is to say it’s a good morning. Skies are mostly clear with temperatures in the low to middle 40s and a few of those usual suburbs will dip quickly into the upper 30s with a little patchy fog. Those spots are certainly the exception and not the rule. We have many suburbs flirting with freezing temperatures early this morning around Metro Detroit without any Frost Advisories. Good Tuesday morning! Obviously, we will see some patchy frost again this morning the farther away you are from Detroit. Areas within 20 to 30 miles of downtown will stay in the upper 30s to lower 40s under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. It almost goes without saying that in addition to patchy frost, we will see some patchy fog in the usual spots, just a forewarning for anyone traveling north or heading west on I-94 or I-96 west of I-275.

As I write this, Hurricane Ian is making its second landfall in two days, with the South Carolina coast bearing the brunt. As the storm progresses up the east coast, we’ll be on the fringe of its moisture shield, so expect our mostly clear skies Friday evening to become partly cloudy on Saturday.

It’s been another cool day with showers in the area, most numerous across the northern half of the area, with just scattered showers across the southern half.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of southeast Michigan until 1:00 p.m.

The early morning rain and thunder is settling down as the showers move out of the area through the rest of this Wednesday morning.

We had to close a few windows early this Tuesday morning if you opened them as the cold front came through late yesterday. Temperatures here in Metro Detroit are in the middle and upper 50s outside your home under mostly clear skies and a lighter wind NW 5-10mph and with some of that patchy fog. Fog is unavoidable for parts of our area following a little bit of rain and a dip in morning temps. It will warm nicely throughout the day today with sun and a shift in the wind.

To start our Monday morning, Exact Track 4D Radar at the time I am writing this (3:15 a.m.) shows a compact batch of showers with briefly heavy rain tracking eastward from western lower Michigan.

Watch out for that pesky patchy fog which has presented itself again reducing visibility in spots as you hit the road early on this final day of the work and school week.
