OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. Several Oakland County residents were left without a home due to fires started by lightning strikes Saturday night and Sunday morning. Firefighters in Commerce Township and Walled Lake battled a two-alarm fire at condominiums on Addington Drive near Pontiac Trail, around 9 p.m. The American Red Cross helped several tenants of a Rochester Hills apartment on Galloway Court, near Butler Road Sunday. Fire crews reported they were called at about 5:30 a.m. No injuries were reported. Just hours later, firefighters battled a heavy fire at a home in Bloomfield Township, near Wing Lake Road.

In their first three wins in the series, Miami relied on exceptional pitching in victories by scores of 4-0, 1-0 and 2-1. MIAMI Scrambling for replacements following a coronavirus outbreak, the Miami Marlins added a Moran, a Morin, two pitchers named Josh Smith and a former Olympic medalist in speedskating. The Marlins' revamped pitching staff includes right-hander Mike Morin and left-hander Brian Moran, and right-hander Josh A. Smith and left-hander Josh D. Smith, all recently acquired veterans. Replacements included seven newly acquired players, and 11 players from the team's alternate training site. The virus infected 21 members of the Marlins' traveling party and forced the suspension of their season July 26 after just three games. We expect to win games, Hill said.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. A fuel tanker rolled over and exploded as it was exiting the I-75 freeway at Opdyke Road in Bloomfield Township at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver, a 50-year-old Detroit man, extricated himself from the truck and was treated at the scene by Bloomfield Township paramedics and firefighters. Firefighters had the fire under control and extinguished by about 11:30 p.m. Several other area public safety agencies assisted Bloomfield Township police and fire in the response including Waterford, Southfield, Birmingham, West Bloomfield, Auburn Hills, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Troy, Oakland County and Star EMS. It just fell into place.I am pleased that Bloomfield Township has such fine fire and police departments. They do a superior job, as was shown by their fast and efficient action in dealing with this situation, said Bloomfield Township Leo Savoie supervisor.
