The Grand Rapids-based brewery said it will reopen its Detroit taproom next year, but it didnt specify a date. The taproom closed after a former employee filed the lawsuit against Founders. Founders said all proceeds from the taproom through at least 2022 will be donated to Detroit charities. What were really striving to do here is to work with the community, said Mike Stevens, Founders co-owner and CEO.

MiBiz.com reports Founders Brewing Co. is selling a majority stake in the business to the brewery's Spain-based minority shareholder, Mahou-San Miguel Group. Founders Brewing co-founder Mike Stevens told MiBiz the deal will allow Founders to think more strategically in the future. "It's going to give us the opportunity to take Founders to a whole other level," Stevens told MiBiz. Founders Brewing Co. was founded in Grand Rapids in 1997.
