Ashley Street at Washington Street: March 8 to March 20Both Ashley and Washington streets leading up to the Ashley and Washington intersection are closed, according to the city. Westbound traffic will travel south on First Street, west on North Street and then south on First Street. Ashley Street from Liberty to Washington: March 11 to March 20AdBeginning at 7 a.m. on March 11, Ashley Street will close from Liberty to Washington Street.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, Miller Avenue between North Ashley and First streets will be closed to traffic. Eastbound traffic heading into the downtown area will be detoured south on North Seventh Street, then east on West Huron Street and north on Main Street to Miller Avenue. Commuters heading out of downtown or passing through via Miller Avenue will be rerouted down Main Street, west on West Huron Street and then north on North Seventh Street.

Closures include the intersection on Miller Avenue and First Street, and parts of West Madison Street, South Fifth Avenue, Holl Street, South Division Street and East Hoover Avenue. To avoid the intersection, westbound Miller Avenue traffic will be detoured to Main Street then westbound on Huron Street to Seventh Street and back to Miller Avenue. Traffic heading east will experience the reverse by being detoured to Seventh Street, eastbound on Huron Street to Main Street and then back to Miller Avenue. Construction closures on West Madison Street, South Fifth Avenue, Holl Street, South Division Street and East Hoover Avenue are scheduled to be closed through 5 p.m. on Nov. 30.

A sewage overflow in downtown Ann Arbor on Thursday afternoon was caused by a blockage, according to the City of Ann Arbor. The overflow, located near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Chaplin Street, resulted in an estimated 250 gallons of sanitary sewage leaving an 8-inch sanitary sewer pipe through a manhole cover. The sewage moved down the gutter into a storm drain and ended up reaching Allen Creek. An investigation by City of Ann Arbor Public Works found that the blockage was the result of roots and rocks in the pipe, which were removed by work crews. According to protocol, city staff has notified the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
