The victims in the shooting in Mobile ranged in age from 15 to 18, police said. They were at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Friday night for the game between Leflore and Williamson high schools when shots rang out, Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste told reporters. They're bringing their beefs that they have with each other in their neighborhoods and they're putting other people in harm's way," he said. It is unclear whether there was a fight before the gunfire and police are interviewing witnesses at the scene, he said.

The claim will ensure that the Clotilda, which sank in the Mobile River in 1860, remains a publicly owned resource, the commission said in a statement. "By preserving the Clotilda, Alabama has the opportunity to preserve a piece of history," Gov. Experts and volunteers got to work to determine whether the remains really belonged to the last known slave ship. The state announced last May that the wreck in the Mobile River had been positively identified as the Clotilda.
