Westbound I-696 lanes were closed between Mound and Dequindre roads as of 6 p.m. No details about the apparent crash have been announced yet. DETROIT – A crash involving three vehicles happened in the area of Outer Drive and Mound roads Tuesday after a driver said he was trying to escape gunfire. The driver told police he was shot at as he was traveling on Outer Drive. He sped up and crashed into the other vehicles, also causing a fire hydrant to be knocked off. STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. A truck went airborne Friday morning and collided with a house on Hanks Road, near the intersection of 19 Mile and Mound roads. According to authorities, the 48-year-old driver of the truck was killed. Crews worked to repair the damage and police are investigating how the truck went airborne and crashed into the house. SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Fire crews were called when an SUV went up in flames Monday right in the owner's driveway in Shelby Township. It happened at a home near 26 Mile and Mound roads in the Whispering Hills subdivision. Sources say the fire may have been caused by a child lighting something on fire inside the SUV. STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Crews battled a fire for hours at an automotive supplier in Sterling Heights on 18 1/2 Mile and Mound roads on Friday night. Video footage captured images of heavy smoke in the air from the fire. There appears to be some damage, but officials say everyone got out safely. The same automotive supplier caught fire last year. According to the Macomb Daily, there was millions of dollars in damage then.
