DETROIT – A local family is hoping the community can help Detroit police make an arrest in a shooting that left a man paralyzed. The family said the shooting happened on Oct. 10 when the two men got into some type of altercation. He was shot in front of all three of my children, in fact, as well as my neighbor’s children,” Turk said.

DETROIT – A barricaded situation that stretched on for more than 24 hours on Detroit’s west side ended with the gunman dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. It was an outcome police tried to avoid, which is why the standoff lasted as long as it did. Police said they wanted the suspect to come out peacefully. Officers from multiple departments, including Dearborn and Redford, worked their way inside. DETROIT – A standoff with a gunman that started early Tuesday morning at a home on Detroit’s northwest side has ended after more than 24 hours. The gunman, who was wanted in connection with a triple homicide on Helen Street earlier this summer, has killed himself. Police officers surrounded the home for more than a day. The hostage who escaped Wednesday morning told police he was fearing for his life the entire time he was in the home with the armed man. Original reports stated the man fired at officers, but police later clarified he did not fire directly at officers -- he just fired a shot.

DETROIT – A woman who was held hostage has been released by a gunman from a northwest Detroit home on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, a gunman took a man and woman hostage inside the home early Tuesday morning. Police said they tried to pull over the gunman at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in Redford Township, but he took off. Original reports stated the man fired at officers, but police later clarified he did not fire directly at officers -- he just fired a shot. He’s also made threats against police officers, Craig said.

DETROIT – A gunman is holding two people hostage inside a home in northwest Detroit. The home is on Iliad Street near Fenkell and Telegraph roads. Police said they tried to pull over the man in Redford Township but he took off. He fired a shot at officers before breaking into the home in Detroit, police said. The man also called 911 to say he was holding two people hostage inside the home.

DETROIT A memorial service will be held on Thursday to celebrate the life and legacy of former State Representative Alma G. Stallworth, honoring her decades of public service, political activism, and devotion to family and community. Stallworth was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1932, and moved with her family to Detroit as a young child. The search continues for a gunman connected to a shooting Tuesday evening near 8 Mile and Lahser roads in Northwest Detroit. Police say a man was driving in this black Jeep about 4:40 p.m. when a white Jeep pulled up and the driver opened fire. The driver of the black Jeep was killed.
