President Donald Trump was in Michigan Friday and will be returning soon, and Biden will be joined Saturday by former president Barack Obama in Michigan. President Trump will return to Michigan for two stops on Monday -- one in Traverse City and one in Grand Rapids. “We are very close in Michigan and we’re going to need a strong Election Day turnout for Republicans to win this state,” McDaniel said. Musician Alycia Wilder-Mollison and her string quartet are partnering with Declare Detroit to hold a virtual concert on Sunday in an effort to inspire people to vote. Francis Grunow with Declare Detroit says the group has been working tirelessly to encourage Detroit residents to vote and make their voices heard in the 2020 General Election. Wilder-Mollison says she, her string quartet and a vocalist will play the gospel song “We Shall Overcome," which became an anthem during the Civil Rights Movement. Presidential campaigns don’t spend time and money in states they don’t think are up for grabs and -- by that metric -- Michigan is very important to both candidates. Vice president Mike Pence was in Flint Wednesday. Dr. Jill Biden visited multiple Michigan towns Thursday on behalf of her husband, former vice president Joe Biden; and Eric and Tiffany Trump made their own stops on behalf of their father, president Donald Trump. Trump will visit Oakland County Friday and Biden will be joined Saturday by former president Barack Obama in Michigan.

During his speech, Pence focused his attention on the economy -- which some attendees say is part of the reason they support Pence’s and President Donald Trump’s reelection. Both Trump’s and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaigns believe Michigan is up for grabs this November, and they’re pouring in both money and time by the bucketful. Both candidates and surrogates for their campaigns will be stopping in Michigan all throughout the next week, leading into Election Day on November 3.
