DETROIT – Police are searching for two men in connection with an attempted robbery of an off-duty officer on the city’s west side. Detroit police said the officer fired a shot at the men, striking one of them. The teen was dropped off in a red 2006 Pontiac Vibe. Police are looking for the other two men, who are described as Black, between the ages of 16 and 18, believed to be armed and driving in the red Pontiac Vibe. More: Detroit crime news

According to court records, Ortega-Escudero assaulted a federal officer during an immigration arrest on February 2. Following a foot pursuit, Ortega-Escudero again fought with an ICE agent and attempted to remove the agent’s firearm. The ICE agent was physically injured in the attack. Ortega-Escudero’s case is just one of the many immigration enforcement cases being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office. “An assault on a law enforcement officer is unobjectionable, and this individual, illegally present in the U.S., will now face time for his actions.

DETROIT Police announced Sunday they have launched an investigation into the use of a choke hold on a protester. The investigation was in response of a photo of Detroit Will Breathe organizer Nakia Wallace being restrained with a chokehold Friday. Three officers took me to the ground and after I was already on the ground one, of them put me in a choke hold, Wallace recalled. William Meeko Williams was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer. The organization will hold a protest Monday outside the Detroit Detention Center to continue to call for his release.

HAZEL PARK, Mich. – The vehicle of a Ferndale resident trying to flee police Friday was shot at by an officer. The driver of the vehicle was alone when the Hazel Park officer approached her. Another female officer observed the vehicle pull into a residential driveway on Carlisle south of Woodward Heights. When the officer approached the vehicle from the back, the driver started reversing. A third officer arrived and followed the vehicle to W. Woodward Heights and N. Chrysler Service Drive.
