Police said the investigation was launched after “it was learned” that Neva was viewing child sexually abusive materials on the internet. Neva was charged with six counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, five counts of distributing child sexually abusive material, and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime. The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet. If you have information regarding possible child exploitation, you can report it here.

A 39-year-old Berkley woman has died after crashing a watercraft into a dock in Clear Lake on Saturday afternoon. Michigan State Police say at about 5 p.m. the Berkley woman lost control of the jet ski she was operating and collided with a dock. Unsuccessful life-saving measures were attempted by officers following the crash, police say. The woman died before being taken to the hospital. A second passenger, a 33-year-old woman from California, was also injured in the crash.
