The Detroit Zoo’s massive penguin center has reopened to the public more than two years after it was shuttered to repair faulty waterproofing.

The Detroit Zoo’s Polk Penguin exhibit closed for repairs in 2019, those repairs were only expected to last about nine months -- then the COVID pandemic happened.

The Detroit Zoo has officially reopened its Polk Penguin Conservation Center (PPCC) after more than two years of renovations, and the zoo has welcome a new species.
