The weather pattern through Saturday will be one of scattered, very light showers of either rain or snow. But what comes in on Sunday won’t be scattered, and may not be light.

We’ll start our Finally Friday with mostly sunny skies, and temperatures will race up into the low 50s (11 degrees Celsius) by early afternoon, then level off and even fall as clouds move in.

It was another chilly day out there, with wind chills by mid-afternoon in the mid-to-upper 30s (1 to 4 degrees Celsius) in most areas.

After a few showers this morning that I certainly didn’t expect, it was back to full sunshine and very pleasant temperatures, as many of us once again got close to or above 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius). However, as I’ve been telling you all week, don’t get used to it. The party’s over.

There are few things more certain in Michigan than the changing of leaves.

Thursday night will be another quiet night, with nothing more than some high, thin clouds passing by from time to time.

Our stretch of gorgeous weather continues as high pressure remains parked right over the Great Lakes region. That means another mostly clear night, with lows near 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius) in our urban heat island closer to Detroit, while rural areas drop once again into the 40s (6 to 9 degrees Celsius), with calm air.

As promised, we are well on our way to a spectacular final week of September weather.

Tuesday’s cold front did a number on some of us with large hail and damaging wind gusts scattered across the area. However, now that the front is well south and east of us, we are the beneficiaries of the cooler, drier air streaming in.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for all of southeast Michigan until 11:00 p.m.

An approaching cold front will generate a line of thunderstorms over the central part of the state in the mid-to-late afternoon, and this line will cross southeast Michigan between then and midnight.

Tuesday’s cold front has ushered in a cooler, drier air mass, with the day’s mid 80s (30 degrees Celsius) now replaced by Wednesday’s mid- to upper 70s (24 to 26 degrees Celsius). While an isolated brief, light shower is possible before sunset -- best chance is north of M-59 -- most of us should be dry through the evening hours.

A severe storm threat is in the forecast Tuesday.

The battle over whether high school winter sports should resume amid the coronavirus pandemic continues in Michigan. The state also reports “active cases,” which were listed at 66,000 on Tuesday -- near the lowest it’s been since November.

DETROIT – Another round of snow is on the way to Southeast Michigan -- here’s what you need to know to plan ahead. Most of the area saw some accumulating snow on Sunday, but the next wave will bring more shoveling for folks in Southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service shared another stunning view of wintry Michigan from satellite. Take a look at the beautiful satellite imagery of our great state this morning. You can see the snow covered ground for much of the state where the clouds are not obscuring the ground. From a consensus standpoint, the GFS, UKMET and GEM models all keep the storm far enough south to miss us completely. However, what makes me nervous is that the one model that hits us with a solid snowfall is that trusty ECMWF model.
