A woman was killed and another was injured when gunshots were fired from a car that had been following them on the road in Pontiac, according to police.

A Pontiac woman accidentally set herself on fire while using rubbing alcohol to torch her car because there were bed bugs inside, police said.

A fight over a girl at a Pontiac home led to a 15-year-old boy being beaten unconscious and his 16-year-old brother’s arrest, according to police. Officers said they found two girls at the home, including one who had been reported missing and refused to come down from the roof.

Two people were shot overnight in the parking lot of Altadona’s Restaurant in Pontiac, police said.

A 28-year-old man drowned in a Pontiac lake while trying to retrieve his kayak, which had floated away from the dock, police said.

On Dec. 7, Vannessa Deanes was tragically struck by a Chevy Impala while crossing North Perry Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Deanes was listed in critical condition Monday night, and ultimately passed away due to her injuries. Russini had worked with Deanes for years at the Heritage Baptist Church, where she once helped out with children during Sunday school. Police say it was a 31-year-old man behind the wheel who kept driving after hitting the 29-year-old woman.
